Kiss My Barcode

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Barcodes and cell phones. The UK post office has launched a system where by a bar code can be sent to a cell, and then scanned in at the post office, and then redeemed for something…

The use opportunities here are only limited by your creativity.

It is reported that the barcodes will be able to be scanned and then turned into cash. Refunds from companies, and renumeration for casual workers, etc.

Obviously it is cheaper than generating a cheque, but why can’t the barcode relate to just about anything the sender wanted it to relate to?

There are already barcode mobile ticketing solutions out there, where by your ticket into the show is sent to you by SMS. You make your way to the show, present the barcode on your cell screen, and your barcode (ticket) is scanned for entry.

Where will it all end…

Hey maybe a hotel could send signed in guests an SMS and barcode instead of a hotel key! Readers at the door could let us in!

I will end with a mention of the most successful element to any service and or technology to date…

KISS

…Otherwise, how are we social networks only really interested in value, ever going to work all this stuff out!

Pocket Visual Zones

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Prior to recent times, the video content that you were able to access on your cell was usually a straight edit and downsize from a full length video.

No start, middle, or end. No story. Just an excerpt

Since those good old days (last week!), video studios, developers, editors, and content providers have risen to the call to actually make made for the small screen video content.

Shorter durations, filmed and edited for optimal cell handset performance, the new breed cell video content comes complete with story content.

It has a beginning, some middle section, and end.

It’s fun to try and come up with a 45 second story line… Boy meets girl, girl decides what to wear…

And see, the 45 seconds is already exceeded. But I am sure it can be done. Maybe if the girl is
already in the outfit she wants to wear…

Ok… my poor attempt at male skewed comedy aside, the obvious winner in regards to cell video content will surely be music video clips.

Check out a recent online find and taste the new generation cell video content kings.
