Now there are smart ideas, and there are smart ideas. The best ideas are always so simple too, they leave you thinking “Now why didn’t I think of that”.

How about a new business model for the sale or non-sale of mobile games… Let’s give the games away to people for free!

That’s right, free, without charge… Well not initially anyway.

CDC Mobile, a Chinese mobile services provider and business unit of CDC Corporation has come up with an amazing business model and plan of attack to drive revenue from their mobile games, by giving them away for free to users.

The whole aim is to release mobile games that millions of people will play and enjoy. Now that may sound like the aim of any mobile game, but for the standard business model, in order to have millions of people actually playing your mobile game, you have to sell millions of games.

Not so with CDC’s plan.

As mentioned, the user gets the game for free. Any freebie is bound to get a large audience of people who now get a chance to play the game.

So where to from here?

Well… did you want to get to the next round or level of the game?

Herein lies the brilliant tag line.

Users pay only when they want to move forward in the game to the next level or round of game play.

The whole idea is to let the user get hooked on playing the game first, then as soon as they want to play on up to a higher level, let them request the bill!

It’s too good. It’s like paying for a mobile game in installments whilst using the game to to drive revenue for you.

Some say that golf is the best way to ruin a good walk, I say that a good walk beats leaving a dent in your lounge chair cushion any day of the week.

If you attempt to play golf like me and use the patented ‘zig-zag’ hitting style, then you will know that the ground covered walking is a lot more, which of course ranks me in the fittest elite of golf play.

I can’t mention golf can I without also writing the word ‘Tiger’?

It seems, and well we have always really known this, that Mr Woods is as sharp off the course in regards his business sensibility as he is on the course with his golf play intelligence.

Tiger woods is now in the top percentage of celebrity brands that is looking to capitalize further by merging their current retail offering into the mobile space.

There are apparently the usual suspects when it comes to what Tiger is offering on the WAP site
but there are also a few surprises including mobile video messaging and mobile sweepstakes.

Now that’s a big WAP 4 out to everyone, and now… a few less excuses as to why your not out enjoying the sunshine.

Well again, this is not cell handset related yet… But you would think it won’t take someone long to adapt this rather novel self help gadget to cell phones, and really, it’s a wonder someone has not already done so.

“Oh my god, why does she keep listening to that heavy metal music!?”
