How about a new business model for the sale or non-sale of mobile games… Let’s give the games away to people for free!
That’s right, free, without charge… Well not initially anyway.
CDC Mobile, a Chinese mobile services provider and business unit of CDC Corporation has come up with an amazing business model and plan of attack to drive revenue from their mobile games, by giving them away for free to users.
The whole aim is to release mobile games that millions of people will play and enjoy. Now that may sound like the aim of any mobile game, but for the standard business model, in order to have millions of people actually playing your mobile game, you have to sell millions of games.
Not so with CDC’s plan.
As mentioned, the user gets the game for free. Any freebie is bound to get a large audience of people who now get a chance to play the game.
So where to from here?
Well… did you want to get to the next round or level of the game?
Herein lies the brilliant tag line.
Users pay only when they want to move forward in the game to the next level or round of game play.
The whole idea is to let the user get hooked on playing the game first, then as soon as they want to play on up to a higher level, let them request the bill!
It’s too good. It’s like paying for a mobile game in installments whilst using the game to to drive revenue for you.
